Remember when I was talking about all the fun running "holidays" in May? Well, Miss Oakley and I had a fun, rainy day run on May 5th for National Run with Your Dog Day! Up next is a day for running with my other favorite running partner, my Little M! On May 31st, moms and dads across the country are going to lace up and roll out to celebrate National Stroller Running Day. It's hosted by Mom's Little Running Buddy and there are some great giveaways going on with sponsors like BOB, Club Momme and more! I've heard there will be a BOB stroller given away, along with some other fun stuff! They are even selling super cute t-shirts this year! You'll have to head over to the site to enter to win, get some gear, see if there is an event near you, or start your own!
I hope you all find a fun way to celebrate National Stroller Running Day! Maybe do it with another mom/dad friend, or find a fun group or 5K to join! If you have to...borrow a baby!!! Because STROLLER RUNNING IS FUN! There are a bunch of "Stroller Stories" over on Mom's Little Running Buddy...be sure to go check them out!
Basically every day is stroller running day for me and M, especially since I've found the perfect running stroller. I posted a while back with 5 Tips for Stroller Running and while all of the tips still apply, BUT my stroller of choice has changed! I always knew I wanted a BOB stroller because they pretty much ROCK, but when I first got one (used of course!), I chose the Ironman. You know, the one for the "real" runners. While I loved the stroller and the fact that it helped me find "me" as a runner again, I didn't love the fixed front wheel. I know it's supposed to be better for running, but I really struggled with it. It may have been because I'm short, or because I usually run on curvy trails, but the constant readjusting of the direction of the wheel made my arms work harder than my legs were, and was generally kind of cumbersome and annoying. I tried the BOB Revolution and absolutely fell in love with stroller running all over again. I HAD to have it. The front wheel can be fixed or swivel, so I love that versatility. It rides exactly the same as my Ironman and besides the front wheel, looks the same too! I was able to resell my Ironman and find a used Revolution, so I ended up basically trading it in. I find myself so much more willing to take Little M on a run with me now, and I love using it for walks too! I'll also add that it travels pretty well. Running strollers are bulkier than regular ones, but for our move, we folded it up, popped the wheels off and thew it in the roof rack. I put it back together in less than 5 minutes when I got desperate for a good run while we traveled.
how about you?
