I've got running on my mind my friends. Maybe it's because THE running event of the year is coming up on Monday.. Maybe because I haven't run more than 2 miles in the past few months. Or maybe it's because I have a way cool pair of NEW running sunglasses sitting on my counter begging to be used (more about these in a sec). Either way, once a runner, always a runner and currently I'm really missing training and racing! This Monday is the Boston Marathon. This race is a big deal every year in the world of running, but this year more than most, all eyes will be on Boston. Last year's tragedy still weighs heavy on my heart...how someone could terrorize such an event is just beyond me. People run to heal, run to get stronger, run to find themselves. And I guess that's why the community has come back stronger than ever.
If I know runners - Monday will be a powerful day. Instead of running away what possibly could happen, runners are running faster and stronger towards the finish line. There will be stories of comebacks and recovery, and how tragedy has only made us (the running community) stronger. We said a lot of prayers for Boston last year - but let's not forget them this year. I can't wait to watch the race coverage - any big event like this is always a huge motivator for me!
Ok - onto those way cool sunglasses on my counter. I wanted to share about some amazing new running sunglasses I received a few weeks ago from Under Armour. Just this year, UA has released a "just for women" model - the UA Marbella. I got the opportunity to try these out and I have to say I'm a big fan! These glasses are SUPER light weight and feature "ArmourSight". The lenses are super durable (actually inspired by the military!) and provide great peripheral vision. This is really helpful while running or playing sports, since there really isn't a "blind spot" on the side! They fit my face really well, the nose grip is adjustable - they never slide down my sweaty nose!
Apparently my running color scheme is pretty predictable - because I got sent the black and peapod green version. LOVE! I officially have all of my favorite running accessories are lime green!!
So far, I've tested these out on a (too) short run and lots of walks. I can't wait to get more use out of these as summer approaches and when I get back into running post-baby. Living in Colorado where the sun shines 300 days a year and at an elevation of 7,600 feet - having good quality sunglasses is KEY! I've had trouble finding ones that I like to use consistently that don't squeeze too tight or don't slide down my face, but I think I've finally got a winner! Thanks Under Armour!
Disclaimer: I was provided a pair of sunglasses to review. This is not a paid post, and all opinions are my own.
