Funny story...during my first half marathon ever, we had personalized race bibs. The girl who was in front of me for most of the second half of the race had hers pinned on her back and her name was Margarite. I spent those last 5+ miles thinking about nothing but margaritas. Needless to say...I had one for my celebration dinner that night, and it has become a bit of tradition since then. A sweet, salty drink after a long hard run is just perfect sometimes!
So, we know that having a marg or a beer after a race can be a fun motivator, what about having a little mock-tail BEFORE you hit the road? When I realized I could make my own pre-workout drink that tastes just like a margarita - that was a pretty awesome day. This drink is SO GOOD. It's the perfect mix of sweet and salty, not only making it super similar to my favorite drink, but also exactly what you need to fuel with for a long run.
This drink is also a great electrolyte drink when you're sick. And if you can drink a margarita mocktail when you're sick, you're pretty much guaranteed to feel better soon!
Pre-Run Margarita Mocktail
You can shake this up and pour it over some ice cubes for "on the rocks" - or throw it in the blender with some ice for a blended margarita mocktail! I've done it both ways and love them both!
How about you?
What do you crave after a long run?
