Hey everyone! How was your week? Mine was good but a little crazy! I had some super klutzy moments (see the slice of skin that's now gone from my finger tip and the giant goose egg on my forehead...gah!!) and we had some naptime drama but overall it was a good week! I even got out for my first run with our new Bob Ironman jogger and I LOVE it! So does Makena. I even brought Miss Oakley along so we could all get our fresh air and exercise. I've got a week until my first 5K post-baby so it felt good to get a decent run in. I'll really be winging this one folks!
While we're talking about good weeks, I've been thinking a lot about all of my favorite workouts. These days my workouts consist of whatever I can fit in during naptime, so several of these workouts aren't possible for me right now. But we're talking dream world people. Is it weird that I have workouts that I get really excited about? So just for fun I thought I would put together "My Ideal Workout Week". Maybe you'll get some new ideas for your weekly workouts!
Monday - A Boot Camp Style Class
My favorites are the ones held outside where you can take advantage of hills, benches and playgrounds, but I love any body-weight/interval style workout. I've been getting my own version of this with my Mommy & Me Boot Camp class! While I teach it, I still get to join in the sweat-fest and I really love it!
Tuesday - Trail Run + Yoga Class
While online yoga classes and DVDs are great, I sure love the feeling of an awesome yoga class. The energy and calm you get from a wonderful instructor and focused class is unmatched! My favorite yoga classes are vinyasa flow or heated power yoga! And NOTHING beats a good trail run in the sunshine!!
Wednesday - Swim
I really do LOVE swimming. It's tough for me to stay consistent with it, but when I do I absolutely love it. It's a great break for my legs and I always feel powerful after a good swim.
Thursday - Elliptical and Weights at the gym
The past version of me was a total gym rat and I would schedule my elliptical workouts around my favorite TV shows or workout-dates with my friends. I still love to hop on for a good interval workout while catching up on my favorite E! shows! I also really crave lifting heavier weights. I haven't gotten to the gym in a long time and while my home dumbbells do the trick - I miss using machines and heavier weights sometimes!
Friday - Rest/Stretch
While there are tons of activities I would love fill in here...my week wouldn't go so well without a day off!
Saturday - Long Run
With a running buddy of course! I love getting up on a Saturday morning and having a big goal ahead - and adding the fun of doing it with a friend! Finishing the run with a yummy GF treat and some coffee with said running buddy would be the perfect start to my weekend!
Sunday - A Hike or SUP (stand up paddleboard)
The hike if I'm near the mountains, the paddleboarding if I'm near water. In reality my perfect workout week would include multiple days of paddleboarding! Unfortunately I live far from any body of water!
If we're really digging deep into dream-world ALL of these workouts would be on the beach!
Now obviously this isn't a week geared for training for anything specifically. But if I could do each of these workouts in the same week I think I would be a pretty happy girl! Maybe one day I can have a week just like this one!
