I have found myself thinking a lot about celebrating the small victories lately. A few examples?
Well, we just survived 2 weeks with a brand new puppy. It's so easy to get caught up in the fact that she wakes us up at night and is a disaster on a leash, but I keep trying to remember and celebrate the fact that she hasn't had an accident in 3 days!
After we had a tough loss in football this week, and a sloppy win the week before, it's easy to get frustrated. But instead, I always try to talk to my husband about what went well and focus on those small victories.
And finally, when my running buddy and I were out for a long run last week, I found both of us getting kind of down on ourselves because we were running slower than we had hoped, and didn't quite make our goal distance. That's when we started talking about our first real running experiences. How running a 5K was a big challenge. And how my first 10K was a HUGE deal! The fact that we run those distances without so much of a thought now really is something to celebrate. And while we have longer races to train for, and speed goals to meet, taking a minute to think about how far we have come is really important.
We all have challenges, we all have moments of not feeling good enough. But I know each and every one of you has something to celebrate. It's not always easy, but makes a huge difference in your frame of mind.
